Hive & Honey Views

Much planning, anticipation, and angst usually goes into making the perfect plans for the perfect night in order to have that very quintessential NYE. Luckily living in Orange County gives anyone looking for plans many options, but I have never been one to paying an exorbitant amount of money for a so so event. Generally speaking NYE events and parties are overpriced and the tickets are oversold for what they offer. After researching on EventBright for options that night we decided on Hive & Honey, an amazing rooftop bar located at the Marriott in Irvine. Weston and I have had drinks there a couple of times before and have really enjoyed the ambiance there. The rooftop has phenomenal panoramic views of Orange County. There were cute little couches and high tops to sit at, with plenty of heaters to keep you warm, I am always cold so I always check the heater situation. The bar area is lighted with huge chandeliers hanging from the ceiling that give it the such a cute ambiance.

The NYE event included a dinner, with a 3 course pre-fixed menu at 'Heirloom' Restaurant (located on the 1st floor) which does farm-to-table style food. Our 9pm seating was ideal because it allowed us to enjoy a nice dinner, and then head up to the rooftop bar. We loved hanging by the heaters, taking in the last views of Orange County in 2019 and ringing in the New Year with everyone. To attend, we paid $85/person for the dinner, and included access to the Hive & Honey party with a drink ticket. We considered the event such a great value considering everything else we had looked at was well north of $125 and did not include as much. Subsequently, if you were looking for a night with all drinks included. Those events would run $185 and up.

The pre-fixed menu had some really yummy options. I chose the Maryland crab cakes, the petite filet, and since I am lactose intolerant, they even provided me with a sorbet that wasn't on the menu. My food was really well prepared and the staff was extremely attentive and quick with drinks and food. Weston's pasta dish was way too salty. It was barely edible which was disappointing. We brought up the saltiness of his dish to both our waitress and the manager. They both apologized and 'comped' our table of 4 a glass of champagne in order to make it right. I have to say the entire staff of both the Heirloom and the Hive and Honey could not do enough to make our night memorable.

The NYE Hive & Honey rooftop party had a Roarin' 20's theme. They had a super cute pho

to booth where you could take tons of pictures with NYE props. One of the best things about this event was the fact that they didn't oversell the event. There was plenty of room to move around, hang in groups, get drinks at the bar, and celebrate 2020 with your favorite people. I would definitely go back to Hive & Honey to ring in another New Year!!!
