These are uncertain times, many of us are home unsure of what we can do or how to help. I wanted to turn to my blog to give ways/things you can do to make a positive impact. Many of my friends are frontline workers and relayed their experiences both good and bad. Nurses are given one N-95 mask for their entire shift and then asked to recycle them, police officers aren't given any masks when they are responding to home emergencies, and speech therapists are asked to screen patients in the Emergency Department or even do respiratory treatments in some hospitals. But there is also the good. Through this pandemic many frontline workers have received an outpouring of love and support. Community members have supported by sewing masks, restaurants catering lunches to hospitals, homebuilders donating their mask supply to hospitals, and even people volunteering out in the community to deliver goods to elderly who cannot shop due to their risk.

GoldSheep Masks

Here are some easy ways to help:

*Goldsheep (a Newport Beach leggings company) is making masks to donate to frontline workers across the US: https://goldsheepclothing.com/collections/help-houston

*Donate to Frontline Donations which is a charity organization raising money to provide supplies to frontline workers: https://frontlinedonations.com/donate/

*Donate blood- there are still patients who need blood and blood products in the hospitals- https://www.redcrossblood.org/donate-blood/manage-my-donations/rapidpass.html

*Shop local!! These are hard times for all local businesses. Order take out from your favorite restaurants, rent gym equipment from your favorite studio, shop online from local boutiques for gifts.

*Are you crafty? Sew masks, make face shields, etc for local frontline workers.

*Donate pre-wrapped foods for frontline workers. The cafeterias in hospitals are asking that those who are caring for Covid patients do not go to the cafeteria for food. So they must bring breakfast and lunch and snacks. Check with the local hospital on their process for donations!

*Check in with neighbors, coworkers, friends through FaceTime/Zoom/WhatsApp because staying home (especially if you live alone) can be so lonely.

Stay safe, wash your hands, and maintain your social distance. We can all do this together!!! All else fails...pour yourself a glass of rosé!!!
