Recently, it dawned on me how fast this year has flown by and I cannot believe that 2019 is coming to a close. With the new year quickly approaching I started thinking about New Years resolutions and how we want to start fresh with the turning over of the calendar. Not only will the first of the year bring a new year but, think about this, it brings a whole new DECADE!!!! With only 24 days left in this decade, I think it's important to look back and see all that you have accomplished and done in this decade.

For me:
*I graduated with my undergrad from Boston College
*Achieved my Masters degree from UCLA
*Hung up my cleats closing a huge chapter as a Division 1 softball player, but gained a joy for healthy eating, cooking and workouts
*Landed my dream job
*Focused on what makes me happy
*Turned the dreaded big 3-0
*Had love and heartbreak
*Lost my grandfather (a father figure to me)
*Went to my 5 year reunion where I reconnected with good friends from BC
*Witnessed many friends get married (10 to be exact) and now in turn are having babies (2020 is the year of the baby I swear).
*Traveled to Asia, Europe (twice) and Costa Rica

Mostly, I have continued to work on my own growth in my career by pushing myself outside of my comfort zone; taking on new challenges, working on my personal growth with relationships and friendships and finally how to balance my own happiness with the happiness of others.
For me this year was a lot of firsts and 'oh sh*t' now what do I do's', but I do not regret this part of my life. Looking back at a decade allows you perspective outside of the microcosm of the 'right now'. A proverb so eloquently puts it that "hindsight is 20/20."
As I put this decade in my rearview mirror, I am so incredibly thankful for the highs and lows, the love and the losses, and those who have been along for the ride. All of these events have helped set me up for the next decade which I think will be the best yet!!! Look back at the last 10 years. What were your highs and lows? How do you think it will help you in the new one?
