I have been feeling trapped at home these last couple of weeks with no reprieve on the horizon. There is something to be said for having a vacation on the calendar to look forward to. And with Memorial Day weekend coming up we wanted to have a getaway. We heard that Pasea was having concerts on their rooftop and their pool was open to guests. Count us in!
With full intention on getting our R&R for the weekend we booked two nights. One of the best things about the hotel is that there isn't a bad room in the entire hotel. Each room has an ocean view. Stay-cation here we come!

One of the best parts of a stay-cation is being able to pack all the essentials. We brought wine, cheese, snacks, watermelon, tequila, waters, Aha's and mixers. Every room has a mini fridge, bottle opener and wine glasses for you to use.
We checked in Saturday around noon... and to our surprise our room was ready. As always, we were fully taken care of by the staff. Our boutique room, perched on the 7th floor, faced the Huntington Beach Pier, swimming pool and provided a front row view of the concert (Winning!!!). We quickly dropped our bags (many, many bags), changed into our swimsuits and headed to the pool. Of course, we made skinny margs and packed snacks to munch on by the pool. When we arrived, they informed us that we couldn't bring outside food/drink into the area.
Side note: When we stayed for our anniversary in February we were allowed to bring waters and snacks to the pool.
Pasea's pool implemented new rules due to the Coronavirus and to abide by the social distancing rules. Markers were placed by the pool bar and chairs were spaced to ensure distancing. On Saturdays and Sundays Pasea's pool has a live DJ playing your favorite music.....Think mini-Vegas pool party.
New rules:
*no outside food or drink
*limit on number of people at the pool- 3 hour time blocks you can stay marked with a
colored wristband
*food must be purchased with any drink
*6 people in the hot tub at a time

Following a full afternoon of pool time, vitamin D and margaritas we went back to our room to relax and get set up for the concert. From our cute little balcony, we had the perfect spot to enjoy the sunset and listen to the live concert while we poppin' our bottle of rosé and munching on our charcuterie plate.

Getting a primo spot by the pool can be a challenge, especially on a holiday weekend in the summer. We woke up bright and early to snag our spot by the pool for first-class people watching and optimal sun. Pasea's pool opens at 9am and we were able to snap a rare empty pool photo.

Celebrating our Memorial Day Weekend, relaxing, soaking up some very needed Vitamin D and enjoying cocktails by the pool was exactly what we had in mind for our weekend! After a full day of sun and drinks we headed back up to the room to relax and order in take out food. To our surprise and due to the holiday weekend the hotel hosted a second concert on the roof for guests to enjoy.

Our final morning we rented bikes from Pasea and rode to Newport Beach for lunch. When staying at the hotel you can rent bikes for the day at no charge. We packed our cooler, coffees in tow and headed out.

Pasea well surpassed our expectations, as usual. The staff could not have been kinder, happy to assist in any way possible (by abiding to the social distancing rules), and just plain happy to have you as a guest. It was the perfect way to end our Staycation. We are so thankful that in these crazy times Pasea was able to provide a sense of normalcy that we were needing.
A few other new rules to note:
- two guests to a room (children are an exception)
- Only guests who are staying can be on the Pasea property (Including Tanner's
Treetop)
- If you order a drink at Tanner's Treetop you must also buy food
Cheers!
