Make Me Wanna Roll My Windows Down & Cruise

And so the lockdown begins again....With Orange County turning 'purple' with Covid-19 cases, why not highlight one of my favorite quarantine dates. Back in July, we took our annual road trip to Cayucos. Looking out the window at the beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean as we cruised up Pacific Coast Highway a lightbulb went off. Weston loves all things cars; he loves road trips and we both love anything and everything outdoors. I proposed a date idea to rent a convertible for a day and drive up PCH with no real agenda. Two weeks later, we penciled a Saturday to lazily wind our way towards Malibu.

I really wanted Wes to select the car to pop the top down and ride in for the day. As a car aficionado, he already knew that Turo would be the perfect space for us to rent. This site is awesome for those who don't want to pay airport fees, city tax and all these other fees that come with renting at an airport car rental like a Hertz. Essentially, it is an automobile sharing service where you can choose by category: classics, convertible, cars, exotic/luxury, sport, etc. Whatever your plans for the day may be, Turo has a car to fill those needs.

We rented a convertible, stick shift Porsche for 24 hours. We had the best time with the top down cruising up PCH wind in our hair and not a care in the world. And gosh did it drive and handle well on the winding roads. A late morning launch allowed us to leisurely take in the Pacific Ocean views winding up PCH.

Our destination was the Malibu Lumber Yard, which is a wood lined shopping and dining area in Malibu. There is a cute little Mexican restaurant, Cafe Habana, that has great mags, a cute outdoor patio and really delicious, yet healthy entrees that we frequent. We love the Strange Family Wine room that is located here. They have this phenomenal Pinor Noir Blanc, that we seriously considered becoming members just to buy that by the case. The tasting room recently moved to a larger storefront and a glam look upgrade. I fell in love with this gorgeous chandelier they have....can we say house goals? I would highly recommend going to this tasting room. The staff are extremely knowledgable and friendly; instantly you feel their passion for wine and sharing it.

Happy Quarantining!!! Rent a car, take a drive and take in somewhere beautiful. It beats staying home and just watching Netflix. Remember life's about balance. Stop and grab a drink...Cheers!!!
Love,
