National Guacamole Day was this week (September 16th)!! And holy guacamole is it good; so I felt this was only fitting to talk about one of my new favorite Mexican spots. Descanso, in Costa Mesa, is a modern taqueria bringing you the full flavors of Mexican in conjunction with hibachi style (they call it plancha) interactive dining. Think chef in the middle of your group with the box shaped hot grill in front of you while whipping up some of your favorite Mexican dishes.

Periodically I do a girls night out with my Bounce Society 6am girlfriends. 3 W's: Wine, Workouts & your best Women! We pick a different and new spot to try out each time. It's been a fun way to let lose and just have some girl time. This last week decided to check out Descanso and it was phenomenal!

We opted to dine outside on their adorable patio area for happy hour (3-6pm Monday-Friday). During happy hour, they offer margaritas for $6-$7 and wine by the glass for $5, in addition to having many of their small bites at a discounted price. They have a large outdoor bar & tons of seating!!! Descanso also hosts a Wine Wednesday where bottles are 1/2 off, $5 wine by the glass and no corkage fee on your first bottle. During Wine Wednesdays they also have live music by TIAN....definitely worth checking out!

The girls ordered the Taco Skillets which were little small plate size skillets with potatoes, avocado, onions, and your choice of meat (steak, shrimp, al pastor, chicken). I ordered the Mahi Mahi fish tacos which were fresh and light for a hot summer night. The staff is wonderful and super knowledgeable about the menu and what is best! I would highly recommend trying it!!!
