Date Night Picnic

More than a month into the 'stay home' ordinance, we were brainstorming new/fun date night ideas. By this point we have cooked at home, played virtual games with friends, done puzzles, and hiked a bunch. We wanted to switch it up, while still abiding to the rules. Weston had an idea to picnic in the park. It made it a little challenging knowing that parks are closed; so we opted to turn the backyard into a 'park'! I laid out blankets on our chaise lounge chairs by the pool (we don't have grass on our property), some pillows, plastic cups, plates, napkins and of course wine!

I made homemade chicken salad in lettuce wraps and Weston made prosciutto and goat cheese wrapped pears for an appetizer. See below for a picture of his appetizer.

Being in the comfort of our own backyard was actually one of the best parts. We could keep our food stored in the fridge until we were ready to eat and grab extra napkins if needed. Plus, not having to lug everything to a park and using our own bathrooms rather than ones at the park was a bonus!

This bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon was perfect and it will only run you $17!

We played music, ate and drank while we watched the sunset over the pool. Honestly, I would do this date all over again even if we aren't under the 'stay home' ordinance.

Pack a picnic, make your favorite lunch items, grab a favorite bottle of wine and enjoy the upcoming summer nights. Cheers!
