Looking for a fun kickoff day party to break out of the quarantine blues?

The weather has been perfect this month and one of my best friends, Katie, turned 30 on June 7th. We all were looking for a fun and festive way to close out her 20s and welcome her to the 30 club... so what better way than renting a Duffy boat out of Newport Harbor to cruise around for the afternoon! It's the perfect way to spend the day on the water, as well as check out different spots to eat or grab a drink. This will give you all our tips and tricks to hosting your own day on the high seas!

I love any and all opportunities to decorate and be festive. With that being said, I offered to do the boat decorations in pink and gold for her 30th. I hit up my favorite decoration spots to "deck" this Duffy out.

First stop, I went to my local Trader Joes for peonies which served the perfect table center pieces situated in small white vases. Their assortment of flowers are not only affordable, but their a-la-carte selection makes it easy to build without breaking the bank.

The vases, "happy birthday" banner, 3-0 balloons, napkins, cups, spoons and appetizer plates were all dollar store scores! You would be amazed what you can find down the isles of your local dollar store!

The best part about renting these boats is that you are able to bring along your own snacks, drinks, water and wine! Our rental was from 12pm - 3pm which is the perfect amount of time on the water to avoid feeling rushed and not breaking the bank paying by the hour. Although a quick pit-stop spot to use the restroom, grab a drink or grab lunch makes it feel like a real outing. A majority of the bay side restaurants have spots to pull up to 'dock and dine.'

The boys took the helm for the afternoon and cruised the harbor. We ate and sipped on champagne as we made our way from Newport Beach to Corona Del Mar. It's such a phenomenal way to see the houses, yachts, restaurants and fellow Duffy renters. These boats are also a breeze to drive... so experienced "sailors" not required here!

With the summer season kicking off I would highly recommend spending your afternoon on the water with your friends or family. We are already planning our next outing but up in Long Beach for a change of scenery and you can find these easy rental locations closer than you may realize! (Christmas parade anyone...?)
